Dead Animal Removal & Odor Control
When something smells off, we find it, fix it, and restore comfort to your home.
Few situations are more unpleasant — or confusing — than discovering a terrible odor inside your home, garage, or crawlspace. Often, the source isn’t visible and can’t be safely accessed without the right tools. A decomposing animal can quickly affect air quality, attract insects, and leave lingering bacteria long after removal. At Animal Dispatch, LLC, we specialize in safe, discreet dead animal removal and odor remediation. Whether it’s inside walls, under floors, or in ductwork, we locate the exact source, remove it, sanitize the area, and ensure it doesn’t happen again. We don’t mask odors — we eliminate their cause.

• Location and Accessibility (yard vs. crawlspace vs. attic or wall cavity)
• State of decomposition
• Number of potential entry points to address
• Species type -larger animals like deer and bear require special attention
• Crawlspace or foundation condition (moisture, debris, limited clearance)
• Number of animals
• Extent of odor or contamination
• Disease - mange and chronic wasting disease must be handled with care and in some cases samples are required by the VDWR

- Odors in walls, crawlspaces, or attics
- Dead mice or rats under floors or inside insulation
- Animals trapped during poor-quality sealing work
- Decay smells coming through air vents or returns
- Dead skunks, opossums, or raccoons under decks or sheds
- Roadkill near foundations or in drainage areas
No matter where it’s coming from, we use specialized equipment — including fiber-optic scopes, and odor-mapping techniques — to locate the source with minimal damage or disruption.

1. Investigation & Detection
Standard inspection (within our service area): $75
We start with a focused inspection, tracing the odor to its strongest point and using cameras when needed to view hard to reach areas to confirm the source. From here we discuss the best removal and clean up options. If we have to cut into a wall or rip up floorboards - we ensure there is a plan in place to repair the damage afterward.
2. Safe Removal
Once located, we remove the animal using gloves, respirators, and containment bags. We always check for multiple carcasses or nesting materials to ensure complete cleanup.
3. Sanitation & Odor Neutralization
After removal, we treat the area by removing any soil or removable items that have become contaminated to quickly stop the odor — not just cover it up.
4. Access Repair & Exclusion
Dead animals got in somehow. We identify and seal the entry points to prevent repeat incidents, using durable flashing, mesh, or other exclusion materials.
5. Verification & Follow-Up
We confirm that the odor is gone and provide documentation and recommendations to prevent future incidents (such as vent covers or routine inspections).

Decomposing animals release ammonia, methane, and bacteria that can cause illness if left untreated.
Common issues include:
- Respiratory irritation or allergic response
- Secondary insect infestations (flies, beetles, maggots)
- Contaminated insulation or duct systems
- Airborne bacteria entering HVAC systems
Animal Dispatch uses personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe disposal methods following local and state health regulations — ensuring your home’s air and surfaces are restored to a safe condition.
-
Once the immediate issue is resolved, we focus on prevention.
We can:
- Inspect attic and crawlspace entry points
- Install durable critter-proof vent covers
- Replace damaged insulation or vapor barriers
- Provide odor treatments for residual contamination
Every odor tells a story. We find out what happened, fix it, and make sure it never happens again.
We take pride in treating every home as if it were our own — with professionalism, care, and complete respect for your space.
